A Woman of No Importance

Oscar Wilde (1854 – 1900)

Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde, to give him his full name was a colourful character, to say the least. A pity, then, that we only have black and white photographs of him. At least he was aware of the importance of style and the time it takes:

'I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again.'
